After decades trying to be a good Christian, I realized I could not meet the expectations of that belief system. I spent the next many years searching for someway for God to love me again. I happened to be lucky enough to visit Jerusalem and lucky enough to have a mentor family that simply accepted me. After years of study, I finally converted to Judaism.
I realized after so much effort and looking back—many things I had believed or had done were extremely Jewish in nature. I realized I hadn't chosen to become Jewish, I realized that Judaism had long chosen me.
